Digital Technology Fundamentals for Founders
About Course
You do not need to become a programmer to lead a technology-enabled venture—but you do need to understand what your product is made of, what your technical team is telling you and where digital risks can damage the business. Founders often spend too much, choose tools they cannot control or discover security and scalability problems only after customers arrive. This course gives you the practical technology judgment needed to avoid those mistakes. You will see how digital products actually work, translate your idea into clear requirements and decide whether to build, buy, integrate or use no-code tools. You will learn the essentials of software, APIs, cloud infrastructure, data, AI, automation and cybersecurity through everyday startup situations. You will also practise managing developers and vendors, controlling important technology assets and challenging proposals without pretending to be a technical expert. Every section produces a useful founder output, including a system map, requirements brief, data plan, security baseline and technology decision matrix. By the end, you will think like a technology-aware founder: able to ask sharper questions, compare options, protect the venture and connect technical work to customer and business results. You will leave with a 90-day technology roadmap that can guide conversations with co-founders, developers, agencies and investors. Successful learners receive a Scalelab Academy certificate, lifetime course access, future content updates and access to course-specific AI tools for drafting requirements, assessing vendors, identifying risks and refining technology decisions.
