Malay can make everyday life and professional relationships in Malaysia more comfortable, but learners often depend entirely on English and miss opportunities to connect with colleagues, customers and communities. This practical beginner-friendly course teaches Bahasa Melayu for real daily and professional situations through pronunciation, greetings, introductions, numbers, dates, time, money, transport, food, shopping, accommodation, workplace requests, meetings, messages and customer conversations. By the end, you will be able to manage everyday situations, introduce yourself and your organisation, participate in simple workplace exchanges and communicate respectfully in Malaysia’s multicultural business environment.

Course Content

Section 1: Start Speaking Malay
Build a practical foundation in Bahasa Melayu. Practise pronunciation, spelling, essential sentence patterns, greetings, polite expressions and ways to ask for repetition or clarification.

Section 2: Introduce Yourself and Your Organisation
Share personal and professional information confidently, introduce your organisation and colleagues, explain the business, exchange contact details and ask simple questions.

Section 3: Use Numbers, Dates, Time and Money
Handle phone numbers, prices, quantities, percentages, dates, appointments, deadlines, addresses and Malaysian ringgit accurately.

Section 4: Manage Daily Life in Malaysia
Use Malay for directions, transport, food, shopping, accommodation, assistance and simple public or service conversations.

Section 5: Communicate in the Workplace
Make polite requests, offer help, ask questions, give simple instructions, discuss schedules, confirm responsibilities and communicate progress.

Section 6: Take Part in Meetings
Welcome participants, introduce the meeting purpose, ask for clarification, express agreement or disagreement politely, make suggestions and confirm next steps.

Section 7: Write Messages and Emails
Write professional chat messages and emails, request information, confirm appointments, send documents, explain delays and recognise when bilingual communication is useful.

Section 8: Speak with Customers and Business Partners
Welcome customers, understand needs, describe products and services, discuss availability, answer questions and respond professionally when more information is required.

Section 9: Understand Malaysian Business Culture and Language Use
Communicate respectfully in Malaysia's multicultural environment, considering titles, hierarchy, relationships, hospitality, indirect communication and use of Malay and English.

Section 10: Practise Complete Malay Conversations
Combine the course language in realistic daily-life, professional, workplace, meeting, customer and written simulations, then create a personal learning plan.
